Commercial Interior Design
I have worked for over 14 years in retail interior design and visual merchandising. This enables me to design commercial interiors with creativity but also with a practical focus on the profit making goal of an area. I have designed technical areas where the buying process is challenging, or areas of mechanical sales where logistics and display have to work effectively together.
I am experienced in retail store layout, and have created commercial layouts to sell kitchens, living room furniture, office furniture, bedroom furniture and children’s furniture.

I had the great pleasure of working with NKD waxing and helped them with their expansion to Leicester.
The landlords, of the property, wanted the salon to have a unique feeling, to link in with the regeneration of the surrounding area. They wanted to move away from the ‘usual’ beauty room feel. I worked closely with the owners of NKD, sharing a Pinterest board and coming up with the look of the salon before the designs took shape.
Plot design created 3d visuals of the reception area and treatment rooms which gave the clients a glimpse of the finished spaces before the build took place. A statement wallpaper was used in every treatment room, which has been a great talking point with their new customers.
Plot design then supported them with compiling furniture lists and ordering products for the fit out.
They are so pleased with the interiors that NKD are implementing the unique look in their existing Nottingham salon.
““I worked with Claire, during the time that IKEA opened four stores, in under a three year period. Claire took a professional approach to her work and supported the complete store design process (design, planning, implementation and follow up). Claire worked with interior designers and visual merchandisers as well as supporting presentations to the IKEA UK board members, steering groups and other key stakeholders.
Claire is an asset to any team and brings a great sense of humour and open approach.”
